Dydacomp Shares Top Secrets to Staying on Santa’s (and Your Customers’) Nice List

Leading order management solution provider offers Cyber Monday survival guide for small and mid-sized businesses this holiday season.

PARSIPPANY, NJ, October 9, 2012 - Dydacomp, a leading provider of order management solutions for small and mid-sized eCommerce and multichannel merchants, today shared best practices from its Chief Executive Officer, Fred Lizza, for small and mid-sized businesses (SMB) looking to capitalize on Cyber Monday and drive holiday sales. In addition, Dydacomp will be hosting a webinar titled, “Staying on Santa’s (and Your Customers’) Nice List: A Cyber Monday Survival Guide” on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 2:00p.m. – 3:00p.m. ET.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) recently announced it expects holiday sales this year to increase 4.1 percent to $586.1 billion, higher than the 10-year average holiday sales increase of 3.5 percent. In addition, the NRF's eCommerce arm, Shop.org, forecasts online holiday sales will grow 12 percent over last holiday season to as much as $96 billion. SMB retailers need to be prepared early with a plan of action for capturing the increased holiday spending.

“Despite some mixed reports in the overall retail industry, the growth rate of eCommerce is a strong indicator that consumers are turning to online as a shopping medium and there’s an opportunity for businesses to take advantage of this increased spend,” said Lizza. “If retailers ready all of their sales channels and prepare their back end systems, the holidays will certainly produce significant results.”

As part of the webinar, Lizza will recommend that retailers:

  • Start early. Start advertising sales and specials in late October rather than waiting until later in the year - catch those early shoppers. Research has shown that nearly 40 percent of consumers begin shopping for the holidays before Halloween.
  • Have a back-up plan. Considering consumer spending patterns, be prepared with a back-up plan for advertising, coupons and deal offers. If sales start trending down, a new promotion can give an SMB the boost that it needs. By solving issues in real-time, you can protect yourself from a holiday season in the red.
  • Be visible. Communicate with retail partners - make it simple for consumers to find your coupons or discounts because if they find them, they'll use them. There are many third party sites and comparative shopping channels that promote these codes and your related products, so you need to work with them to make the information available.

Lizza will cover other key best practices in the webinar hosted on Wednesday, October 10, including best practices for offering free shipping, minimizing shopping cart abandonment and preparing a website for the increased holiday traffic. Lizza will also share the key verticals expected to do the best and worst this holiday season.
